Step 1: Choose a MDC and a LDC that you would like to research (you must have your choices approved by Ms. Konsko before you continue.)
Step 2: Conduct your research about the countries you chose, concentrating on economic, social, and demographic indicators of development
Step 3: Compose your comparison paper. Your paper must include:
Paragraph 1 introduces the countries you will be comparing and gives some brief background information about each. This paragraph should include where each country is located and its HDI, along with other information of your choice.
Paragraph 2 compares the countries you have chosen based on economic indicators of development; consider discussing GDP per capita, economic structure, productivity, access to raw materials, access to consumer goods
Paragraph 3 compares the countries you have chosen based on social indicators of development; consider discussing quantity and quality of education, literacy rate, healthcare and other social welfare programs
Paragraph 4 compares the countries you have chosen based on demographic indicators of development; consider discussing: life expectancy, infant mortality rate, natural increase rate, crude birth rate
A final paragraph provides an analysis of why the LDC you chose remains at such a low level of development and how it might achieve the development status of the MDC you chose to compare it to. In your analysis you should outline specific actions for the LDC to take in order to achieve a level of development similar to the MDC you discussed in your paper.
