Sustainability Research Project


•You and your team of researchers are faced with the challenge of feeding the world by 2050. How will you do it? You will research ideas and strategies that can be used to help sustain a global population of 10 billion people and write a proposal stating your plan. Your completed proposal should Include several strategies and explain how these strategies will help solve the problem.
Day One;
You will use the internet to research the information below  You will take notes as you research on the Research Handout
•Google search: How will we feed the world in 2050?
•Research GMO’s and hydroponic farming
•Research food waste reduction strategies
Once you have completed the research, you will answer the following questions:
1.What is the problem?
2.What will happen if we continue down this path?
3.What are some things you want to do to fix the problem?
4.Explain in detail how your strategies will fix the problem.
Day Two: 
Step One:  You will meet with your classmates to share the information that you gathered and decide which strategies seem most promising for sustaining a global population of 10 billion people. 
Step Two: Write a proposal, addressed to the United Nations, that
                 (1) clearly summarizes the key issues surrounding population growth and food supply and
                 (2) explains three strategies that could alleviate the problem
